Last time, Icy found a crowd of Oddishes and managed to
capture one. After healing it at the pokécenter, he began thinking about what
to do with Abra. And now…
The sun rose in a spectacular display on the Vermilion
Harbor. Icy woke up, had breakfast at the local diner, then set out for the
cave. “I hope I get a chance to capture a Diglett or Dugtrio,” Icy said with
confidence.
He entered the caves. It was slightly dark but someone had
placed small lights every 25 meters throughout the cave. Icy looked around but
didn’t see any pokémon. Then, right under him, a Diglett zipped by. It was
followed by another Diglett. Then, Icy felt the cave rumbling. He ducked into a
side cavern as hundreds of Digletts rushed by. “Let’s follow them!” he
said to Abra. They followed the Digletts through some winding tunnels until they
came to a large open cavern. There, in the middle of all the Digletts, was a
large Dugtrio. It was much larger than any of the other Digletts.
“Wow, would you look at that. They look like they’re
praising the Dugtrio.” Icy really wanted to capture a Diglett or two, and that
Dugtrio was very tempting. He decided to have Abra use its confusion attack on
the Digletts the same way he did with the Oddishes. He hadn’t taken more than
two steps when he suddenly heard two voices ring out.
“Prepare for trouble!” “Make that double!” It was two
members of Team Rocket. “These Digletts belong to us!”
“No, you guys can’t have them!”
“Why not. They’re open to the public.”
“As far as I’m concerned, thieves don’t belong in the
public.”
“That’s it squirt! We don’t have time to listen to your
stupid remarks. We’re taking these pokémon back to the boss and there’s
nothing you can do to stop us. Bwa ha ha ha!” they laughed. Icy reaches for
Abra’s pokéball.
“Oh yeah, I challenge you. If you want those Digletts, you
gotta get through me first!” he shouts.
“Whatever boy, it’s your funeral! Go Grimer! Sludge
attack now!” Grimer jumps out of his pokéball and fires a massive ball of
sludge in Icy’s direction.
“Go Abra! Use reflect then counter with a confusion
attack!” Abra reflects the sludge at Grimer then uses confusion. The Grimer
tries to use another sludge attack on Abra but it backfires, blinding it.
“Drat, Grimer return! Your turn!” he says to his female
teammate.
“I won’t fail! Kid, prepare for the beating of a
lifetime! Go Machop!” She throws the pokéball releasing Machop.
“Ha! What a fool. Now I know why no one is afraid of Team
Rocket. Abra, confusion!” Abra uses its confusion attack on the Machop and it
knocks itself out with one swing. (@_@)
“CRAP. All right kid, you win this time. You’ll be
sorry!” She recalls Machop and the two flee.
“Whatever Team Rocket,” he shouts watching them run. The
Digletts crowd around him and start chanting, “Dig..diglett..dig.” “Abra,
what did they say?” Then, the big Dugtrio moves toward Icy.
“Trio..Dug..Triodug..dug..dugtrio..trio”
“Abra, what did HE say?” he asked Abra again.
“Aaabraaa..aaa..bbb..rrr..aaa…”
Somehow, it makes sense to Icy. The Dugtrio, in honor of Icy
protecting all the Digletts from Team Rocket, wishes to join Icy on his quest.
Icy joyfully accepts and had Dugtrio go into one of his pokéballs. Abra returns
to its pokéball as well and Icy continues through the cave.
Finally, he sees the light at the end of the cave. As he
exits, he can see the dense Viridian Forest. Icy suddenly remembers that the
Viridian Forest is home to many Caterpie (Icy has an unusual affection towards
these cute, little bugs). But he and his pokémon are very tired from their hike
and he hurries to the pokécenter.
“Nurse Joy!”
“Yes, I’m Nurse Joy. Can I help you with something…”
“Wait a sec, weren’t you just in Vermilion City?” Icy,
just like any other new trainer, is confused by the Joy twins.
“Oh, that’s my sister-in-law. We all look alike!”
“Wow, that’s really neat…Mmmmmm…Can you heal my pokémon?”
“Certainly!” She takes Icy’s pokémon and he sits on a
bench to wait. A few minutes later, she returns with his pokémon. “You should
be careful, I just got word from the police that Team Rocket is nearby.”
“I just beat the crap out of two of them. They’re push-overs.
But thanks for the warning.” He leaves south. His destination, Pallet Town.
