Last time, Icy met his friend Mike’s parents in Vermilion
City. After sleeping overnight at the pokécenter, he decides it would be
a good idea to catch a grass pokémon before heading for Digletts’ Cave.
And now…
Icy heads back to Route 6 in search of a grass type pokémon.
“From what I heard in Vermilion City, the Pewter City gym leader, Brock, is a
push-over. But if I can capture an Oddish, I can really make him look like
a fool!” Icy chuckles to himself as he walks through the dense grasses.
“Ooooddddish! Ooooddddish!” he cries out. No response.
“Go Abra. Use your psychic powers to find some Oddishes.” Abra
sleepily points in a northerly direction toward a spring. “Abra,
that’s a spring. Why would an Oddish hang out by a spring?” Icy
is doubtful of Abra’s sense of location but then notices some grass swaying
back and forth. He licks his finger and puts it in the air. “Hmm..
No wind...” He slowly approaches the grass near the spring and suddenly,
about 20 Oddishes jump out of grass. “Aghh!!! Abra, confusion
attack NOW!!!” Abra fires a psyonic wave at a few of the Oddishes
confusing them. They begin attacking each other while Icy and Abra, well
Abra just sits there with his eyes shut, just watch the different colors of the
powders and spores the Oddishes were using on each other. One Oddish,
slightly larger than the rest of them, seems to be unaffected by the other
Oddishes attacks. “That one’s mine! Go pokéball!” he says as
he throws the well-aimed pokéball at it. It captures the Oddish and
floats back into Icy’s hands.
“Yeeesssss! Boy is that Brock in for a surprise.
He he he...” he laughs. Then he notices all the Oddishes crying in pain.
“Oh no, they attacked each other so much that they all got hurt bad.”
He snaps his fingers as an idea comes to him. “I know! Abra,
teleport the Oddishes into the spring to wash the poisons off.” Abra
focuses his teleportation powers on the group of Oddishes and in an instant,
they vanish. Seconds later, they reappear about 7 inches above the spring
and plunge into the water below. { SPLASH!!!! } Icy watches
hopefully as the Oddishes regain their strength and start to play in the water.
“Well Abra, you may not be a great conversationalist, but at least you’ve
got a great sense of humor! Let’s get going, it’ll be dark soon.”
He waves goodbye to the group of soaked Oddishes and heads back toward Vermilion
City. Abra returns to his pokéball and Icy decides the stop by the pokécenter
to heal his new Oddish.
While waiting for his Oddish to be healed, he thinks about
why he didn’t want to evolve Abra. Icy had been lonely as a child and up
until he met Mike, Abra was his only true friend. But now, Abra was
getting quite boring and Icy could really use a friend he could talk to.
“Mister, hello... Wake up... HEY!!!” Nurse Joy’s voice
startles Icy as he remembers why he was waiting there in the first place.
“Your Oddish is as good as new! It’s getting pretty late, you’re
welcome to stay the night.” Icy nods and Joy returns to her desk.
Icy remains sitting on the bench still trying to decide what to do with his Abra.
He slowly drifts off and falls asleep as the sun sets over the water beyond the
horizon. Tomorrow, he’ll be ready to set off for Digletts’ Cave.
